The
FOURTH AVENUE beach in Asbury Park is wide
and in the center of the boardwalk activity.
Nearby is the
Asbury 18 - Miniature Golf. You can also walk to
Convention Hall.
A bit of history notes
here. There is a tunnel that goes from the beach
under the boardwalk to what were locker rooms /
bathhouses in the building on the boardwalk. It is
currently sealed off. There also used to be a
beachside "dug out" next to the tunnel entrance. It
was called Ducky's - who also had the hot dog stand
on the boardwalk itself.
It was a "dug out"
because they often had to dig the sand away from the
front of the stand on the beach.....
Asbury Park has the most affordable seasonal
beach fees and daily beach fees. The seasonal beach
tags are a great value. For now, you can beat the
traffic and crowds and truly have a safe, relaxing
day at the shore in Asbury.
There
are new shops along the boardwalk,
events
on the weekends and
plenty of sand and water to enjoy. While there are
no rides, it's still a great beach with great
people
