 Easter Photos

Thank you to: Cynthia Garrison - Brittain  for these great photos and story.
These 3 pictures are of my sister, Kathleen Garrison-Chamales and her childhood pal Timmy Emmonds. These pictures were taken on the boardwalk in the summer of 1952. They were both 2 years old at the time.
They were both 2 years old at the time. I hope you can use these on your site. Asbury Park was a unique and special place for those of us who had the opportunity to spend time there. I often describe the ceiling of the Mayfair Theater to those who never experienced this magical place. I would spend half of any given movie with my neck bent, eyes staring at those passing clouds. As a matter of fact, my Grandmother took me to see, "The Sound of Music", at the Mayfair. The windows at Steinbach's was a favorite tradition for my sisters and me at Christmas. The three of us would love to see this wonderful city restored to her former glory. I have yet to find a place that offered as much as Asbury Park did in those days.

I had previously written to tell you about my Grandmother's win in the 1904 or 1905 Asbury Park Baby Parade. I have scanned the photo and another of my Grandmother which looks like it was also taken on the same day. My Grandmother was Margaret Coleman Cleveland - O'Hagen - Lepska. She was born on March 17, 1902 in Asbury Park. Her mother ran a boarding house in A.P. for many years and Nanny would entertain us with funny stories of her time spent as a beach rat in those early years of the 20th century.
