I GREW UP IN Wanamassa not far
from Asbury Park and had my first job ever at 12 yrs old at
pepe's Italian pizza, then on to Jon taylors pork roll,Criterion
candies where I rolled salt water taffy standing up in a window
for all to see, it was quite a site as I jammed the machine and
taffy and rolling papers spew out all over( memories of the lucy/ethel
candy episode), at 15 I went to work at Ho Jo's on the boardwalk
where I worked for the next 3 years b4 ending at the grand
casino >I also worked many of the boardwalk rides along the
way what an incredible teen experience it all was,A era of firsts, first
kiss,beachparty,love,heartbreak,sex,( it was the 60's..lol)>
i met my life partner in asbury park in 1972 and for
many years enjoyed the nightclub scene when there was a
scene< anyone recall,,,Dannys,el carol,morrocannan roon,the palace, the
m&k,maggies chez L,(later odessy},Old Nora,at the Blue Note, man
what a memory!!!!!! The years have gone by,life has changed
dramitically for me as well as my Beloved Asbury park,but i hold
it dear in my heart<i live in Honolulu H,i. now<( how did
a po boi like me wind up here???),,,well if it wasnt for Asbury
park I wouldn't be,,,lol,,,am planning another trip east and
when I do,,,for sure Asbury park will be a destination< I am
so glad she is returning to her glorious glory and forever live
Asbury park!!!!!
