The best summer of my life was the
summer of 1965 when my friend and I got jobs working for Kohr's
Frozen Custard in Asbury.
We were from North Jersey so were housed with 11 other girls in
a big house on Grand Avenue. We had so many fun and crazy times!
I mostly worked at the stand in the casino pier which was in
Ocean Grove. I am always looking for but can't find postcards or
pictures of that Kohr's stand. I remember closing the stand at
midnight or later and walking back to the house alone and not
being in the least afraid. Two of my best friends at the house
were Lyndell and Anna who were from Pennsylvania. I would love
to make contact with them!
Some of the times I remember; lifeguard parties on the beach,
going to a local coffee house (can't remember the name) to hear
the folk singers, shopping in the college shops for
"Villager" clothes, being served in a bar (again I
can't remember the name but it was just a block off the beach),
living off of peanut butter sandwiches and frozen custard
because we couldn't afford anything more!, concerts at the
concert hall, and just loving every day I got to spend at the
beach.
Would love to hear from anyone that was around that summer of
'65.

I used to go with my dad to Asbury every weekend in the summers.
I slowly watched it go down when I started taking my kids there.
I became an artist early on, seriously about 13 years ago, one of the
first things I started to paint for myself were some scenes of asbury
park. Its taken over a hundred shows, numerous interests but the
palace finally sold on the fourth of july at the ocean festival in long
branch.
Through the years I listened to people of all ages recall fond
memories of their past. It's been incredible. I thought I would share
the picture with you, for others to enjoy now that her new home lies in
